Agree, that being in the same room or proximity of others creates a whole different level of communication. Without the face to face (and no, Zoom helps a little but definetly not completely) there is much that is lacking.

I am glad the post resonated! There has been much discussion of "Zoom fatigue" and the like; what's been talked about less is why this happens. I think it has to do with the fact that being in separate spaces makes communication hard for us—even if we can see each other. I like to think about the holographic communication made famous in Star Wars: even though we can see the whole person and walk around them, etc., the artificiality remains. We don't know what's happening around them, and what is happening around us doesn't really affect them.
